The Mile High Chess Club

Building healthy young minds, creating lifelong bonds!

Rites of Passage programs have sprung up all over the country as a direct response to African Americans continuous and vicious cycle of poverty, despair, drugs, and violence which afflict our communities, especially our young African American men and women. 


The Mile High Chess Club serves youth in leadership and empowerment skills rooted in identity and inclusion of their authentic selves.

In June of 2021, From The Heart hosted our annual Rites Of Passage Program with our mentors and youth of all races, ethnicities, and cultures who came together for a 3-day retreat in Lafayette, Colorado. 


Our young men were introduced to topics such as: Social & Emotional Competence, Healthy Communication Skills, Mental Health and Wellness practices in building their own strategies, Chinese Kenpo and so many other life skills that we are certain will stay with them for a lifetime!
